COLLIERY DISASTER

(Rec. 7.0) LONDON, April 25. It is believed that between 20 and 25 miners were trapped when heavy falls of the roof occurred in the Barnborough Colliery in Yorkshire. The earth tremors were felt over a wide area. Rescue parties descended the mine, and worked all night, but were not able to approach within three hundred yards of the point where it is now known that seventeen miners are entombed. One miner, who got out, evaded the main fall. No other man has been extricated so ter. (Rec. 12.35.) LONDON, April 26. Rescue parties, making an effort to reach the trapped miners, at midnight, were within 20 or 30 yards from the point where some of them were entombed. No sounds have so far been heard.
