CANADIAN STRIKE
CUT IN SHIPYARD PAY TAust & N.Z. Cable Assn? (Rec. 5.5) QUEBEC, April 6. The shipbuilding yards here remained closed to-day, with three thousand men idle, while company officials and union heads and Dominion Labour Conciliators strove to clear up a misunderstanding created by the enforcement of a new wage scale. The employees complained that, while some workers have received increases of IS to 21 cents hourly, other workers decreased by t cents hourly. The pay of the ordinary labourers has been decreased from 41 to 42 cents an hour. .
The employees said they had received a telegram from the Department of Labour intimating this new wage scale was not supposed to contain reductions.
