MISCELLANEOUS APPEALS HEARD AT GREYMOUTHThe Greymouth No. 9A Manpower Committee (Messrs W. Meldrum, chairman, P. J. McLean, A. Panther and C. F. Shapcott, secretary) heard several miscellaneous appeals against. Territorial service at Grevniouth yesterday. James' Lawson Maitland, acetone welder (J. W. Hannan) appealed on the grounds of public interest and undue hardship while Metal Pressing Co. appealed for him on the grounds of public interest. An appeal by tho Kerr Gas Co. wa's withdrawn. —The appeals were dismissed, service of appellant being postponed until August 19. ’ . An appeal by Westland Transport Ltd. in respect of William Joseph Hughes, motor mechanic, was deferred.

Werner (manager} and the appeal was adjourned six _ months for review, recruit being directed to join the Home Guard. An anpeal by Cyril Walsh for Ronald Bell, farm labourer, on the "rounds of public interest and undue hardship was dismissed, service of recruit being postponed until May 31.
