Sir,—After reading in your newspaper what Mr. McKane, of Greymouth, is reported to have said at 'a meeting held in Runanga on Sunday afternoon last re. a track to the bush in the event of an air raid, I would state that said speaker should consult the proper authority before making, as reported, a statement that is" not correct. Also, in regard to, making targets of the populace of the township, this certainly won’t happen, because our instructions from headquarters are that, in the event of an air raid, everybody stays "put-” Furthermore, and 1 have the authority of the Chairman of the local E.P.S. along with myself as Secretary, in stating that so far as the E.P.S. organisation is concerned, we in Runanga can give Greymouth a lead so far as E.P.S. duties are concerned.
