BLACK MARKET
NAZIS EXPLOIT BELGIUM. (Rec. 8.40.) NEW YORK, Mar. 16. Germans in Belgium and France are counterfeiting American dollar notes, and spreading them among the populace. This was revealed by Doctor Fletcher of Brussels University, who has arrived from Lisbon. He said the condition of Belgium was extremely bad. Food was scarce there, unless money was available for black marketing. “But,” he added, “if you have money, you can get anything from the Germans— food, passports and so forth. The counterfeit notes are. so good that the layman cannot tell the good from the bad. Many German officials are living off their share of black market profits.
