SUBMARINE SINKS 65,000 TONS LONDON, March 15. From Australia comes news of an Allied submarine which has reached port there after sinking 65,000 tons of Japanese shipping. The vessel made a 60-day voyage, of 6000 miles, in Indo-China, Philippine and Malayan waters, Although she was bpmbed, dive-bombed and 'depthcharged, she suffered only minor damage. A United States naval communique states: In the Far East our submarines sank an enemy freighter during the course of extended operations in Japanese waters. A 3000-ton enemy gasoline tanker was sunk in the Philippine area. These sinkings are in addition to those reported previously.
