Kennedy, at a meeting oi« tne Board of Governors of the School last evening. Mr. Kennedy. wn<> prepared the designs for the shelters, said that tenders had been called ,-or by the special committee, which consisted of Messrs T. E. Coates. A. H. McKane. and himself. Five had been received, and the lowest, that of Messrs Keating and McMillan, hao. been accepted. The cost was a little over £1,100.. Since the tenders had been called for it had been ascerta ned that the regulations allowed only 50 children to each shelter. The shelters were in accordance with standard Public Works Department specifications and had been tested against bombs in England. The school would lead in having the type of shelter that was being copied elsewhere. The Main School was using t mber and earthwork shelters, but tiie Department had now_ruled that concrete should be used.
