DEATH FROM BURNS. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, March 14. Beverley Olwyn Hoyle, aged three, of Halswell Quarries, died on Saturday in the Christchurch Public Hospital. She was admitted to hospital on Thursday with severe burns suffered when her dress caught fire while she was standing in front of an electric heater. KILLED BY CRICKET BALL. Struck on the chest by a ball while playing cricket at Linwood Park on Saturday afternoon, Thomas McClelland, aged 60, of 176 Hereford Street shortly after collapsed and died. McClelland, who was a member of the Working Men’s Club team in the Suburban Competition, continued to play after he was hit by the ball, but he later left the field to rest, and after about .10 minutes collapsed and died before he could be taken to hos-i pital. VICHY HOSTILITY. WELLINGTON, March 16. One New Zealand soldier who returned to the Dominion recently with a party of sick and wounded men was discharged unfit from the Australian Imperial Forces after the fighting in Syria. He was injured when he was run over by a Vichy truck. He .said that five men had been deliberately run over previously, and Australian soldiers had permission to shoot an” more drivers who attempted it.
