A REVERSAL OF FORM.
EXPLANATION ACCEPTED.
(Rec. 10.0). MELBOURNE, Feb. 24. The stewards accepted the explanations of the oarties concerned following an inquiry into All Veil’s reversal of form_ in winning, the Hawksburn Handicap compared with its running in the Oakleiuh Plate. The trainer, Wolters, said the horse was suffering from a splint, and the soft going assisted in the Hawksburn Handicap. The rider, Hartney, said the horse was sore in the Oakleigh Plate. The part owner, W. Balloch, said the stable was not. associated with a Hawksburn Handicap betting plunge on All Veil. The other part owner, G J. Barton, is at present in New Zealand
(Rec. 8.5.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 24. The Newmarket final acceptances, scheduled for to-day, have been postponed till Thursday. Newmarket scratchings are: Murmuring and Crojick. High Caste appeared all right and galloped five furlongs in 1.2:1 on the grass at Caulfield. Beaulivre went with Baroda and did foui’ furlongs in 48? secs.
