SWEEPS WIDE AREA. TOKtO, July 22. Many lives were Jost and thousands of homes were flooded when a typhoon hit Shizuoka, bringing to a climax ten days of almost-continuous rain. Shizuoka bore the brunt of the storm, where 35 lives were lost, many people were injured, and 26,000 homes were inundated. In the Tokio area, there were 3p deaths ,and 12,000 homes were flooded. Casualties to fishing-boats are expected to be very high. Crops are inundated, and rail services disorganised. The Weather Bureau predicted that by to-morrow night, the rainfall would be the heaviest in Tokio’s history.
