NAZI PUTSCH ATTEMPTED State of Siege Proclaimed [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Rec. 9.0). LAPAZ (Bolivia), July 21. The former Finance Minister, Victor Paz Estenssoro, has been arrested at Tarija, in the heart of the Bolivian oilfields, in connection with an cibortive Nazi’ Putsch. This movement cn Sunday night threw the country into a state of siege. The 'police have also arrested four civilian members of the Nationalist Revolutionary Movement. The movement is led by Major Elias Belmonte, the Bolivian Military Attache at Berlin, and a German, the former Manager of the Lloyd Aereo Boliviano, named Schroth. Four newspapers, two of which are included in the Washington Government’s black list, have been suspended. There has been a proclamation of a state of siege. This has automatically dissolved the Nationalist Revolutionary Movement. The Government describes the Movement as that of a small party formed with the connivance of German residents of Lapaz. The President of Bolivia, Senor Enrique Penaranda. has taken personal control of cleaning up the situation. He advocates full cp-op-eration with the United States in Western Hemisphere defence.
