RECEIVES FREEDOM OF SWANSEA. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable A==n.H LONDON. July 16. Mr Fraser was made a Freeman of Swansea. His name will appear on the roll immediately under that of Mr Menzies. The ceremony was held in the Guildhall. The Lord Mayor, moving the resolution that the Freedom be- offered, "in recognition of Mr Fraser’s distinguished services to thp Empire,’’ added that the Freedom was the greatest honour the city could bestow on the worthiest men and women. Mr Fraser was a worthy son of New Zealand, and a great statesman Wales and New Zealand had often met on the Rugby field, but to-day were in the same team, fighting against a stern and ruthless foe. He asked Mr Fraser to convey to New Zealand, Swansea’s admiration for New Zealand’s devotion to the present cause, which was a great inspiration. Mr Fraser sa'd that never before had the neop’n of the Br tish Commonwealth been more closelv bound together, than now. He naid a tribute to Swansea’s contribution to the welfare of the Mother Country, and also expressed adm’ration for the wa-"- the neople had stood U n to ( the raiding.
