AUSTRALIAN SHORTAGE. MELBOURNE, May 21. A warning of increasing interference with the suoply of clothing and foodstuffs to Australians was given by Mr Fadden, last night, because the war industry demands. Mr Fadden said that Australia must inevitably suffer to a much greater degree as a result of rationalisation of industry, than there had yet been reason to forsee. , . "The vanishing point may be reached for some civil requirements,’ he said ■ “We are determined make the maximum effort t-o meet war orders. The possible shortage of foodstuffs applies particularly to tinned goods, as Australia is dependent on the U.S.A, for supplies of tinplate.”
