[Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, March ISThe. weather report and forecast are as follows:— General situation: A deep and ex tensive cyclonic depression covers New Zealand, with its centres in the Cook Strait area and west of Auckland An anti-cyclone covers Wesw ern 'Tasman Sea. Forecast.: Winds strong generally, and of gale roice in many places; directions: westerly at first in the North Island, and easterly in the South Island; but gradually tending to southerly generally Seas (N.Z. waters): Moderate south of Farewell Spit; otherwise rough or very rough at times Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh winds from a northerly quarter at hist, but strong southerlies to gales are expending from the west; seas latei rising to rough or high.. Weathev unsettled, with further rain in most districts; further heavy fal s in theastern pi evinces of the South is land, with the danger of severe floods.
