HOSPITAL CROWDED

Wellington’s Need FOR MORE ACCOMMODATION WELLINGTON, February 11. An urgent need of additional hospital accommodation in Wellington was emphasised by Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, in an interview after an inspection of the Wellington Public Hospital. “The question of overcrowding is even more serious than I imagined, and, whalever decision, is made in regard to the Centennial Block, it is quite clear that some increased accommodation will have to be found without delay,” the Minister said. The need, he added, was particularly urgent in view of the fact that they did not know when a large number of soldier patients might have to be accommodated at very' little notice.

He added that he had been authorised by his colleague, Hon. W. Na'sh, to slate that exchange difficulties would not be permitted to stand m the wa.y of new hospital construction. If it were physically possible to bring to this country the material required, ami to engage the labour required, the necessary overseas funds would be made available.
