TWO PLANES LOST
Sunday’s Air Operations [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] ■LONDON, February 9. The sounding of the air raid syrens in London this afternoon was followed by a. short alert. , Two German aircraft were destroyed to-day. An enemy bomber was shot down into the sea off the east coast by our fighters. An Admiralty communique states: An enemy aircraft of the Heinkel 111 K type, which approached one of our convoys in the North Sea, was promptly shot down into tlfe sea by H.M.S. Pythcley. There were no survivors from the enemy aircraft.
Sunday Raids WIDESPREAD BUT NOT SEVERE (Received February 11, 12.38 a.m.) LONDON February, 10. The Air Ministry reports: “There was little enemy air activity over this country on Sunday night. There were a few'bombs dropped in East Anglia, in Essex, and in the Home Counties: “There was some ■ enemy activity over Britain during daylight on Sunday. It was mainly near the east and the south-east coasts, and also on the east coast of Scotland, but no bombs have been reported.’’
