WAR AT SEA
British Triumph FORECAST BY MR CHURCHILL [British Official Wireless] (Received February 10, 5.30 p.m.) RUGBY, February 9.. Rt. Hon. Mr Churchill, in his broadcast, emphasised that he had never underestimated the danger. Hitler was doing his utmost in his war upon British shipping, and also to reduce the volume of American supplies which entered Britain. Mr Churchill added: “Therefore, I hope you will believe me when I say I have complete confidence in the Royal Navy, aided by the Air Force of the Coastal Command and that, in one way or another I am sure they will be able to meet every changing phase of this truly moral struggle, and that, sustained by the courage of the merchant seamen and of the dockers and the workmen of all our. ports, we shall outwit, out-manoeuvre, out-fight and out-last the worst that the enemy’s malice and ingenuity can contrive.”
