The Dutch East Indies are, thus far, not dissatisfied with the progress of the Japanese-Dutch negotiations, but they recognise that the future trend of the negotiations probably will depend largely on events hi Europe, sayjS the correspondent of “The Times” in Singapore. Mr Yoshizawa told a Dutch newspaper that the Japanese have submitted a memorandum to the Dutch delegation, providing a solid basis lor discussions in order to give shape to Japan’s wishes for an increase dn trade with the Dutch Indies, and especially to secure a bigger share of the East Indies’ exports of minerals. The memorandum has also indicated Japan’s desire to participate on a bigger scale in the development of the East Indies oil industry. Japan like every great nation, had aspirations, but she does not intend forcibly to impose the New Order on the East Indies.
