DEFECTIVE SEWERAGE.

[To the Editor] Sir, —Allow me space to give publicity to a very dirty state of things that exists in Greymouth just under.neath the overhead railway bridge. The sewerage has been blocked there for the last six months. Dirty filthywater from it runs right down the railway line across Tainui Street. The Railway Department has spread ashes over this dirty place, but the first rain washes them away again. The smell from same is terrible at times, right at the back door of premises of some of our city fathers. Perhaps the Health Inspector will make enquiries to see who is responsible for this state of affairs. I am etc., CLEANLINESS.
