THE PEACE CONFERENCE (Received Feb. 6, 12.5 a.m.) TOKIO, February 5. The Japanese Cabinet has decidde that Mr Matsuoka (Foreign Minister) and the Minister-at-Large, Mr Hajime Matsumiya, shall represent Japan at the Thailand-Indo-China peace conference for which the Tnailand delegates are arriving by plane to-day. LONDON, February 4. Reports from Vichy state that Marshal Petain has discussed with his Foreign Minister (M. Flandin) and the American Ambassador (Admiral Leahy) reports that the Japanese are seeking an extension of military objectives in French Indo-China. U.S.A. MINISTER TO CHUNGKING. MELBOURNE, February 4. The United States Minister to Australia (Mr Clarence Gauss) is being transferred to China, because of his special knowledge of that country and its customs. His post in Australia is to be filled by Mr Nelson J'ohnson, who is at present United States Minister to China. The changeover has been approved by the Australian Government.
