N.Z. CANTEENS IN EGYPT
Inquiry Committee SET UP BY GENERAL FREYBERG. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] WELLINGTON, January 18. An announcement concerning the canteens available to New Zealand troops in the Middle Ea'st was made hy Rt. Hon. P. Fraser (Prime Minister) to-night. He said that the Government had been in touch with Major-General Freyberg concerning the complaints which had recently been reported regarding the canteens available to New Zealand troops in the Middle East, and it had agreed to Major-General Freyberg’s suggestion that the whole matter should be inquired into and reported upon by a committee consisting of Brigadier N. S. Falla, Colonel W. G. Stevens, and Mr Harvey Turner. Mr Fraser expressed the opinion that it would be impossible to obtain a more competent committee of inquiry, and stated that the matter would be carefully considered by the Government immediately on receipt of the committee’s report.
