Th e weather report and forecast are as follows: — General situation; Anti-cyclones are centred east of Auckland Peninsula and over south-eastern Australia, while a disturbance, between them, is about to pass on to the South Island. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong, north-westerly at first, with a change to fresh southwesterlies advancing from the south during the next twenty-four hours, and probably reaching Wellington Province by Wednesday night. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough in and about Cook and Foveaux , Straits, and rather rough south of Farewell Spit; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh to strong north-westerly winds in the northern and central portions, and moderate to fresh south-westerlies extending over the southern portion; rather rough seas. Weather unsettled over the South Island and later in Wellington and Taranaki Provinces, with intermittent rain extending from the south and west, but conditions are improving later from the south; elsewhere, fair to fine. Temperatures cooler in south; elsewhere mild to warm.
