N.Z. CASUALTIES

Six Airmen FORMER GREY RESIDENT. WELLINGTON, December 16. The following casualties are officially announced:— Sergeant Reginald Brown, Royal New Zealand Air Force killed on operations. His father is'Mr C. Brown, Manukau Road, Epsom, Auckland. Pilot Officer Richard Goulden Brickel, missing in air operations. Mother, R. W. Brcikell, 10 Grant Street, Dunedin. Pilot Officer Brickell is a former resident of Greymouth, leaving fibre several years ago to join the Royal Air Force. He was formerly employed in the Engineer’s Office of the'Greymouth Borough Council. Sergeant William Dudly Linter Cole, previously reported seriously ill in hospital, now reported removed from the seriously ill list. Father, H. L. Cole, 27 Everton Terrace, Kelburn, Wellington. Mrs A. J. Canning, of Wellington, has been advised that' her son, Pilot Officer Charles De Vic Halkett, who was reported missing on September 9, is now known to have been killed. Pilot Officer Halkett, aged 24, was educated at Wellington College and Otago University. was partly trained in the Royal New Zealand Air Force before leaving New Zealand in April last to undergo further instruction in England. DUNEDIN, December 16. Advice has been received by Squadron Leader G. L. Stedman, officer commanding the Royal New Zealan.l Air Force station at Taieri ,that his son, Pilot Officer M. L. Stedman, is reported missing as a result of air operations on December 14. N.Z.E.F. Casualties TWO MEN IN EGYPT. WELLINGTON, December 16. Gunner Herbert Charles Alexander, died in Egypt, December 14. Mother, B. W. Alexander 62 Harbour View Roac|’, Northland,’ Wellington. Sapper Leslie John Entwistle, died f in Egypt on December 10 as the result ■'of an accident. His aunt is Mrs Duncan Darroch, Waikari. Sapper Entwistle, the cutest son of Mrs Pugh, Christchurch, and a well - known broadsider in the city, went . to the Marist Brothers S-cho-jl and then worked for the Public Works Department. As a broadsider he was the youngest rider to oppose the touring Americans, and he toured the North Island with Put Mossman’s team.
