DANUBE FREEZING
GERMAN SUPPLY ROUTE CLOSING „ fAus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received Dec. 17, 8.40 p.m.) BELGRADE, December 16. Because of fhe presence of ice, Yugoslav authorities have suspended from to-day all navigation on the Danube River in its area. -Mi Yugoslav Danubian steamers are tyihg up for the winter. Large blocks of ice are already making navigation most difficult. Other Danubian countries are expected to follow suit in the next few days, because increasing cold w ; ,U undoubtedly ’freeze the Danube in many parts. Thus the main route for the supply/of Roumanian petrol and other commodities to Germany will probably be closed until the beginning of March.
