WEDNESDAY’S RETREAT

London Water Tank Hit [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] LONDON, December 11. A bomb dropped on London, this morning, directly hit a water-tank, causing a small flood. R.A.F. fighters, this afternoon, intercepted eight Messerschmitts over the south-east coast. The Messerschmitts bolted for home. | The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour (Mr. Asshe|ton) said, in a Commons answer, 'that very many hours of production had been saved by the “roof-spotter” 'system during raids, and that an increasing proportion of firms engaged in war work were operating schemes whereby production continued until danger was imminent.
