[Our Own Correstxmdent] REEFTON, December 4. At the Magistrate’s Court, before Messrs C Nevin and, J. B. Auld, J.’sP., Charle s Cecil Henry Friend, for operating a motor-vehicle without a warrant of fitness, was fined .10s with costs 10s; Albert John Peard, for a similar offence, was fined 10s with costs 12s; Lorenzo Kirwan, for driving s motor-vehicie without a motor-driver’s license, was fined 10s with costs 12s; Lyall Ronald Wolfe, for driving a motor-cycle without the appropriate driver’s license. was fined 5s with costs 12s; Thomas Richardson Watson (Mr L. E. Morgan) wa s ’ charged with permitting eleven cows to wander on a road other than in the ordinary course of driving stock. The charge was dismissed. Robert Ctraig (Mr Patterson), charged with being intoxicated in charge of a motorvehicle, was fined £l5, and his driver’s license was cancelled, and he was prohibited from obtaining one for two years. Sergeant Ebbett staled that the prosecution arose out of a motor car collision which occurred on the Reefton-Maruia Road on November 30. Defendant, who was proceeding home, was travelling on the incorrect side of the road and he collided with a motor car driven by Dr. Rutherford. The occupants of both cars did not suffer any serious injury, though both cars were damaged, one severely. Defendant was brought to Reefton when it was found that he was under the influence of liquor, a doctor having certified to this effect. The following debt cases were decided: S. C. Robinson, trading as “Chalk and Co.” v. W. McClimont —judgment tor plaintiff by default, for £1 4s 4d, with costs 10s; S. C. Robinson, trading as “Chalk and Co.” v. R._Fluerty—judgment for plaintiff by default for f. 3 15s, with costs £1 3s 6d. The Warden’s Court sittings were adjourned till th e 17th instant. Motueka Licensing Committee met here yesterday, there being present Messrs S Austin (acting-Chairman), J. ,A. McGlashan, J. Noble and A. Rowliqg. An application by Julia Osbourne for renewal of the publican’s license in respect of the Globe Hotel, Reefton, was objected to by the -inspector ;of Licensed Premises, and the application was refused. An application by' W. U. Satherley for permanent transfer of the publicans license for the Post Office Hotel, Collingwood, to his wife, was granted.
