EXPLOSION TRAGEDY

In Victorian Factorv _ [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received December 4, 12.5 a.m.) ■ MELBOURNE, December 3. One man was killed and five were injured in an explosion in the pyrotechnic section of the Commonwealth Explosives Factory at Maribyrnong to-day. An official statement on the accident, says that an inquiry has been opened, and, until it is completed, work in the section where the explosion occurred, has been suspended. This section manufactures and fills flares, rockets and similar devices. The dead man is R. F. Jensen, aged 25, single. The only other casualty, J. Ward aged 16, whose condition is serious, received severe burns on the face and arms. The others escaped with minor burns.
