SHEPHERD DROWNED

IN FLOODED CREEK. HASTINGS, September 9. A single shepherd boy, Douglas McKeown, aged 22, was swept from his horse and drowned in attempting to ford a flooded creek in the Waipawa district on Sunday. His horse was found that afternoon with the saddle wet, and the saddlebags full of water. A search was begun immediately by the police and a parry of farmers, and (he body was found in a deep hole, about, haif a mile below the crossing place this afternoon.
