HOLLAND SETTLEMENT
LTo The Editor] Sir, —I would be pleased if you. would allow me to add my voice to that of my fellow-sufferers, who have put the case so well that they have really left little to say. However I would like to point out that the Min • ister for National Service, who knows what he is talking about, has emphasised that New Zealand's greatest need is more population. X therefore consider that it is definitely unpatriotic for the Borough Council to leave roads in the disgraceful condition to be found in the Holland Settlement, as very few couples will lave the hardihood to act on the Minister’s advice, when they can see the trials and tribulations of the unfortunate matrons at present knock ing the shine off their prams and tempers. As one of many cyclists, too, I consider I have a legitimate grievance, as I find that I cannot spend much time in the garden during the week-ends, as I am always too busy tightening nuts and bolts on my bike; such nuts and bolts, that is, that have not been shaken out. Yours etc. “HOLLANDER, BUT NOT DUTCH’’
