FINALLY TO-NIGHT “DAMAGED GOODS.” Commencing Saturday: Annabella and Robert Young in “BRIDAL SUITE.”

Never wefe two leading players more happily cast than this pair, assuming respectively the roles of an irresistible manageress -of a Swiss inn and an American playboy. . And .when it is added that - this romantic-comedy twain are bulwarked in their zany doings by such screen artists as Walter Connolly, Reginald Owen, Gene Lockhart, Arthur Treacher and Billie Burke, you may well gather that “Bridal Suite” is a picture not to be missed. ■

In the story Robert Young is a thoroughly irresponsible, happy-go-lucky pursuer of feminine hearts who forgets anything of importance, even his wedding date. To cure him his mother, Billie Burke, rushes him off to Switzerland. Walter Connolly is the psychiatrist called upon to treat him. But Annabella, baker of nusspusserls and breaker of hearts, is there to intrigue Young’s heart while Connolly works vainly on his head. The result is a mad whirl of daff>’ complications and troubles that lake all four into perilous situations on the mountain sides, uproarious love scenes and hilarious battles.

Catching the spirit of this gay romance at its topmost bent Young gives one of the happiest and most delightful performances of a career studded with such additional rcceni hits as “Honolulu” and “The Shining Hour.” Annabella, the little lady of ‘ sunshine and tears,” brings to her role that deftness of characterisation and winning appeal which have whirled her to film eminence on the heels ot a series of successful pictures. Connolly hangs up new laurels in adding this new portrait to an enviable list of characterisations, and Miss Burke was never more aflutter, never more side-splitting than she is in this picture as Mama McGill. The super skating attraction at De Lyall’s Carnival, Mackay Street, are the St. Moritz Skaters, who perform miraculous feats on skates. Nothing helore on such a grand scale has been witnessed in Greymouth, and no one should fail to see this exhibition of perfect poise and complete mastery of the body. As an introduction, Fleurette, a brilliant Swiss skaterina, performs on skates a military dance, and also in a most artistic manner takes the salute in correct soldierly fashion. She and Elsa, another skater of great performance, are making their first appearance in New Zealand, and add greatly, to the entertainment, which is led by Edmund Corthesy and Vera Paravicini. These last two named skaters perform wonders on wheels, their graceful movements in their lifts, swings, whirls and pirouettes being perfectly executed with little effort. Every movement is a delight to the eye, and although these difficult feats are the result of years of practice the element of risk or accident is ever present. These skaters, in fact, defy death at every turn, and thrill after thrill is presented to the large audiences, which are packing out the theatrette at each session. The presentations by these talented skaters should be witnessed by everybodv, and intending patrons are reminded that sessions take place half-hourly, commencing at the half and half-' hour each evening from 7 p.m, and to-day, two special matinees have been commencing at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. ano to-morrow, the last day of the season, a performance will be given at 11 a.m., so one final word: “Don’t miss them.” DISTRICT DANCES.
