WAIUTA, August 1.
Mr J. H. Uren who has been indisposed for some time, has entered the Reefton Hospital for treatment. Miss Reece-Harris, who is an inmate. of the Reefton Hospital, is making satisfactory progress. Messrs W. Ryan and J. Coburn, of Westport, were visitors to the township on Monday. Mr W. Gardiner, who has been visiting Dunedin to attend the funeral of his late brother, Mr F. Gardiner, has returned. Mr T. Moyle (Reefton) who has been spending a holiday here as the guest of Mr and Mrs F. Goldsworthy, has returned.
Mr J. T. Young was a visitor to Greymouth on Wednesday, in order to undergo examination for his electric-winder’s certificate. „
Mr Ralph Beard, Railway Department, Christchurch, spent the weekend here visiting his parents, Mr and Mrs J’ .H. Beard.
Mr and Mrs C. Coxall, Mrs A. Stephens, and Mr E. F. Bryce, who have been visiting Wellington, have returned.
The weekly Red Cross card evening drew a large attendance. Mrs J. Mitchell won the ladies’ prize, while Mr L. Page annexed the gent’s. A competition was won by Mrs J. Purcell.
A shortage of water for household purposes is being experienced locally at present. Slight rain fell on Wednesday evening but not sufficient to replenish the supply.
