PLANE CRASHES
NEAR SYDNEY. TWO PILOTS KILLED. (Received Aug. 2, 1.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, August 1. An Air Force training aeroplane crashed into a cliff on the Blue Mountains this afternoon. The two occupants were killed. The victims were: Pilot Officer Harry Hopwood, and Co-Pilot Vincent Monterrole. The former was incinerated when the plane was burned. The police express the opinion that the pilot lost his bearings in a mis’., and sought a landing in wild coumry, but crashed on the mountainside.
