At the Magistrate’s Court, Mr G. G. Chisholm dealt with the following cases:—D. A. Reid v. Arthur Carr, judgment for plaintiff by default for £8 5s 3d, with costs £1 Ils 6d; Murray Creek (Consolidated) v. C. M. Mathison, application by defendant for a rehearing. The application was granted, defendant .to pay costs amounting to £4 14s 6d; Linus Henry Constable, for (1) driving a motorvehicle, without a motor-driver’s license, ' and (2) operating a motorvehicle without a warrant of its fitness, was convicted and fined 10s, with costs 12s on each charge. Harry Clark, charged with similar offences, was also fined 10s on each charge. Albert Hollard Topp, for driving a motor-vehicle without a driver’s license was fined 10s with costs. Basil Hempseed, for operating a heavy mo-tor-veh!cle without a heavy traffic license was fined £1 with costs. George Hunter and Patrick O’Flaherty, ’for riding bicyofes without lights after dark were each fined 10s with costs. For permitting cattle to wander Norman Humphrey Winstanley was fined 10s, Ernest Tremain Murcott was fined £l, Bert J’oseph De Filippi was lined 15s, LeonardHenry Story was lined 10, and Olive Ruby Rollerson was fined 10s, all plus costs. Frederick William Archer, for failure to inspect his coal-mine within two hours of commencng work was lined £3 with costs £1 11s. On a further charge of failing to remain underground until the day’s work was finished he was convicted and ordered to pay costs. A number of domestic proceeding cases were taken in chambers.

Warden’s Court applications yesterday were:—Andrew Andrews, Leo Rudkin, John Lewis and Edward William Victor Jones, for an ordinary prospecting license over 100 acres in Blk. X, Waitahu S.D.— Granted. Snowy River Gold Dredging, Ltd., for an ordinary prospecting license over 100 acres in Blk. XI, Mawheraiti S.D. —Granted. New Welcome Gold Mining Co., Ltd. for a reduction of rent on two claim licenses for a perid of one year.—Granted. George Saunders, for an ordinary prospecting license ovdr 100 acres in Blk. XII, Mawheraiti S.D.—Granted. All other applications were adjourned.
