MAN SERIOUSLY BURNED. WAIMATE, July. 30. Suffering from extensive burns to the face, hands, and. legs through fie ing caught, in a tussock/fire, a.young man,'Alec Sheddari,. of was admitted to .the Waimate. Public Hospital arid his condition last night was stated to. be "fairly s : erious. Sheddan
was laying poison for rabbits on fire Elephant Hill's estate, and was working on a steep face when his mate at the foot of a hill som e distance off lit a fire in the tussocks to show his position. A sudden change of wind occurred, and Sheddan was trapped by the fire. _ ' <* Sheddan was conscious when he was taken to the homestead seme four miles away, to be taken to tnp hospital. He is fairly well known as an amateur boxer. CHILD BURNED. CHRISTCHURCH. July 30. Elaine Crundwell, aged four, of 17 Johns road, Belfast, was admitted to th e Public Hospital last evening. Site had upset a pan of hot gravy over herself ,and was suffering from burn* on her face and right arm. Her' condition was not serious.
