[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, July 30.

The weather report is as follows: — General situation: An anti-cyclone still covers most of the Dominion, but pressure is falling in the far south with the advance of an extensive depression across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: Northerly winds gradually becoming general, and freshening about and south of Cook Strait, with gales likely later in some exposed positions. Seas (N.Z. waters) becoming rough on the West Coast of the South Island and about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong northerly to westerly winds to gales, and rough seas in the southern portion; light northerlies and slight to moderate seas in the central and northern portions, and wind and seas increasing gradually, from, the south. Weather mainly fair and milder. Unsettled weather, however, in the western and far southern districts of the South Island, with rain developing, ans scattered falls later extending to Otago and the western portion of the Nelson and Wellington provinces.
