BRITISH PURCHASE
ALL N.Z. SHEEPSKINS.
DUNEDIN, July 26.
The following statement was issued to-night by the New Zealand Sheepskin Control:— “The United Kingdom has purchased the whole of the exportable surplus of dried sheepskins. The official buying authority is the Bradford Wool Control, and the price is based on the value of the slipe wool and pickled pelt resulting from the skins when fellmongered. The pelt values agreed to are world prices, and to reflect any alteration in prices it is agreed that the purchase price, of sheepskins is to be reviewed q ua J“ terly. The present change in the United Kingdom’s purchase pricei is due to the first quarterly review. The world price of pickled pelts has declined, and as a result the United Kingdom’s buying price for our sheepskins has declined in sympathy. “The control’s new buying schedule will be issued early next week, and it is anticipated that the reduction in prices will not average more than a penny per lb dried sheepskin weight.”
