Mr James O’Brien, M.P., and Mrs O’Brien, arrived from Wellington on Saturday and leave to-morrow on return. . / Mr A. McLagan returned from Wellington on Saturday. Mrs W. Morris returned on Saturday from Wellington. Mr J. W. Hannan returned on Saturday from Wellington. Mr G. G. Chisholm, S.M., returned on Saturday from Christchurch. Sergeant-Airman D. Scott of WigTarn Air Force Station left yesterday for Christchurch. Mr E. Keating arrived from Wellington on Saturday on a visit to his parents, Mr and Mrs J. J. Keating, High Street. Mr lan Baird, and Mr and Mrs G. Baird, of Napier, arrived by Saturday’s express on a holiday visit to Greymouth. A London cable states that Flying Officer W. H. Rhodes Moorhouse, son of the first airman to receive the Victoria Cross in the last war, has been awarded the D.F.C At Buckingham Palace on Friday, the King received Lord Gort, on his appointment as Inspector-General of the Forces for training. Another visitor was the Sultan of Johore. Passengers by Saturday’s express to Christchurch included: Mrs J. McEnaney (to Auckland), Mrs G. R. Loomes, Mr and Mrs A. Mehrters (to Dunedin), Mr and Mrs J. A. Hart, Mr E. Hanrahan, Mr J. J. Hall, Mrs M. Hall (to Christchurch). Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Health, arrived on Saturday from Wellington. H e was met on arrival by Mr J. B. Kent (President), and Miss M. Anderson (Secretary) of the Greymouth Labour Party, and other members. Yesterday he visited Hokitika, and will open the new Saltzman Annexe at the Grey Hospital this afternoon. The Minister leaves by to-night’s rail-car for Christchurch.

Well-known as organiser of the “Diggers” concert party which toured New Zealand from’ 1915 to 1923, Mr. Tano Fama died in Christchurch last week. A native of Reefton ana 56 years old, Mr. Fama was a member of a well-known West Coast family, and his mother, Mrs. M. Fama, of Wellington, is still living. He joined the Post and Telegrapn Department in Christchurch at th;age of 17, and wa s a member of the Telegraph branch until the Great War. during which he served m Franc e with the rank of sergeant, between 1915 and 1919. After his return to New Zealand in 1923, and th e conclusion of his activities with t.h a New Zelaand Diggers Party, Mr. Fama joined the staff of a broadcasting company.
