AUSTRALIAN RACING. SYDNEY, July 28. At Victoria Park races, the Cape Solander Handicap resulted: Brazen Boy 7.9 (Hickey) 1; Dublin Lad 7.0 (Pcdmore) 2; Broadcaster 9.0. (Munro) 3. Nineteen parted, including Nightbeam, which was having its first race in Australia, and finished seventh. Won by a head; a head. Time—l.l3, a race record. Sir Joseph Banks Handicap: Mischief 8.2 (Knox) 1; Telasur 8.10 (Munro) 2; B'risto 8.5 (Wilson) 3. Ten started. Won by 21 lengths. Time—2.l4. MELBOURNE, July 28. At Moonee Valley races the A. V. Hiskins Steeplechase resulted: Tornarsuk 9.13 (Meenan) 1; Lacus 9.0 (Johnson) 2; Man of Ayr 8.13 (McMahon) 3. Sixteen started. Won by five lengths; one length. Time—--1.471. Glen Orla Handicap: Frill Prince 7.12 (Clarke) 1; Diaphane 8.9 (Dewhurst) 2; Lanarus 7.11 (O’Brien) 3 Sixteen started. Won by a head; a length. Time —2.9. WAR-TIME- ABOLITION. DANNEVIRKE, July 2C The Southern Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Union discussed the abolition of all forms of racing during war time, including greyhound racing. Proposing a motion to that effect, Mr J. M. Wright said that oats, being put down the necks of racehoTes, could be used to better purpose. Racing dogs should be destroyed and the carcases used for feeding poultry and the skins in making coats for men in the minesweepers. After a discussion, during wh ch reference was mad e to the effect on Government revenue, the motion was carried in the form of a recommendation to the Council of Primary Production for consideration of the suggestion.
