Mr. Bob Tollan, of Denniston, is a patient in the Buller Hospital'. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery to health. Miss B. Allan, of Denniston, who has been a patient in the hospital, has returned home.

Mr. James Muir, of Wellington, is spending a holiday with his parents at Denniston

Mrs. J. Kelly, of the New Track, Denniston, is a patient in the Bulier Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. J. Chapman have returned from a holiday spent in the North Island.

Mr. Bob McDonald, of Denniston, has returned from a visit to the Exhibition.

Mr. Don Marr, of Burnett’s Face, is a patient in the Buller Hospital. His many friends hope he will make a complete recovery.

Mr. Tom Curragh, who ■ has been visiting relatives at Burnett’s Face, has returned to his home at Frankton Junction.

Mrs. Curragh, Senr.. of Burnett’s Face, has left for a holiday in Millington. Mrs. F. Todd, of the Camp, Denniston, is a patient in the Buller Hospital. Mrs. Gilmore, who has had an extended holiday at Nelson, has returned to her home at Denniston. Mr. and Mrs. George Jack, senr., are enjoying a holiday at Brighton, near Christchurch.

Mr. Jim Durnin. of Westport, has been visiting friends at Denniston. Denniston Club had an excellent average during . their aggregate euchre tournaments over twelve weeks on Monday evenings, which finished last week. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Smythe. Senr.. Ist; Mrs. C. Jack, 2nd.; Men, Mr. S. Nesbit, Ist; Mr. Ledgarde, 2nd. On Monday evening there was a good attendance and many good' scores were handed in. The winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Glendenning; Men. Mr. W. Bamfort and Mr. S. Nesbit, a tie. The Fire Brigade social, held m the Station, was well patronised. The euchre resulted: Ladies. Mrs. P. Cummings and Mrs. G. Cummings, a tie; Men, Mr. Porter. The local mines continue to wofk steadily. A national ballot was taken on Wednesday. Mr. J. Dowgrav, the independent chairman, has given his decisions on various disputes affecting Denniston. The cavil was drawn on Wednesday evening for the Cascade and Wareatea Mines. The Iron Bridge mine cavil' will be drawn, two weeks later. There were several car mads oi mourners at the funeral of Mi. ack Unsworth. of Burnett’s Face, aged 68 years, who was buried at Orowait Cemetery. The deepest sympatny « extended to Mrs. Unsworth in her sad bereavement. . „ .. There is every possibility ol tnc Pirate Rugby ciub fielding a strong team this season.
