KUMARA NOTES

[From Our Own Correspondent] Mr and Mrs W. Lakin left for Christchurch on Saturday to spend a short holiday in Wellington. Mesdames Fensom, Lawrence and Wise, who attended a Mothers’ Union Conference in Christchurch, last week, returned to Kumara on Monday. Nurse Bremner has taken up duties as Dental Nurse at the Clinic in Kumara. Mr A. G. Wood left by express for Christchurch. Mr and Mrs Knight of Wellington, were visitors over the week-end. Mrs Knight was an old Kumaraite of 40 years ago.

Members of the Runanga Mothers’ Union paid a visit to the Kumara branch of the Union in Trinity Hall, on Tuesday evening last. After a hrief church service, a social was held. Mrs Wise, extended a cordial welcome to the visitors and wished

all an enjoyable evening. Several games were enjoyed and the various competitions were won by Mesdames Thwa.it.es, Fensom, Pope, Lawrence and Miss McConnon. A pianoforte duet was played: by Mesdames Wise and West, and a spng by Mrs Hyndman. Mrs Osborne Brown, on behalf of the Runanga ladies, thanked the Kumara ladies for their hospitality, her remarks being endorsed by Mesdames Kennedy and Sweeney. A dainty supper was provided after which the evening concluded with the singing of “Auld Lang Sync.”
