Two Big British Liners TROPICAL JOURNEY INDICATED. NEW YORK, March 19. Shipping circles hail the reported decision to employ the Queen Mary and Mauretania as troopships, the publication of which is permitted in Canada as striking evidence of the British confidence that the Gei/nan submarines have lost most of their effectiveness. (Received March 20 9 D.m.) NEW YORK. March 20. Smoke is pouring from the funnels of the iiners Queen Mary and Mauretania. It is believed that they are both sailing to-day, under sealed orders. The Mauretania is load’ng sand ballast. The Queen Mary’s luxurious furnishings are being dumped on the pier. She will be heavily provisioned. The police have been ordered to keep a sharp watch on the Hudson Rh’er for mines and for bombs disguised as uebris. The police also have been ordered to report immediately any low-flying aircraft. The Queen Mary’s crew, however, are being issued with tropical uniforms
