The weather report is as follows: — General situation: An anti-cyclone extends from New South Wales to beyond the North Island, but pressure is falling rapidly over Tasmania. Forecast: Winds varying considerably in both force and direction; moderate to southerly to westerly winds predominating at first, but tending to northerly over the South Island after about twelve to twenty-four hours, and freshening. Seas (N.Z. waters):. Rough at times about Foveaux: ■Strait and in the Cook Strait-Tara-'naki area; otherwise slight or moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate westerly winds and moderate seas, with wind’and sea increasing later in the southern portion. Weather for the most part fair to fine, with gradually • rising temperatures. Conditions are later becoming unsettled, however, in ■ the western and fai southern districts of the South Island, with rain developing from the south.
