. CANADIAN ELECTIONS Premier’s Three Opponents [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received March 12, 9 p.m.) OTTAWA, March 11. Candidates totalled 672 when nominations closed for the general elec-1 tion on March 26, yielding no acclamations and setting the stage for three and four-cornered battles for many of the 245 seats in the House of Commons. The Liberals have nominated 240 candidates, the Conservatives 213, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation 96, the New Democracy Party 28, and variously classified Independents and Communists total 95. Straight Liberal and Conservative contests are confined largely to the Maritime Provinces and Quebec. The- Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. WL. McKenzie King) has been nominated for his old constituency in Prince Albert, where his opponents are Messrs R. R. Manville (National Unity Party); P. E. Testrelive (Commonwealth Federation) and A. Campbell (Communist)
