BAKER—O’CONNOR.

St. Ita’s Church, Rakaia, recently, the marriage took place of Joan Claire, second daughter of Mr u*id

Mrs R. C. Baker, of Rakaia, ana Charlies Bryan, third son of Mrs M. O’Connor and the late Mr C. B. O’Connor, of Greymouth. Rev. Father Halvey performed the ceremony, and also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Miss Alice Keane was organist. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a fan-trained gown of ivory anglaise, cut on classical lines and featuring a high neckline. Her veil of cream tulle, hand-embroidered by the Sisters of the Convent, was held by a coronet of pleated tulle and orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of cream water lilies and maidenhair fern. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a lucky horseshoe. Attending as bridesmaids, were Miss Pat Baker, sister, and Miss Lilian Penrose, cousin of the bride. They were dressed alike in frocks of dephinium blue taffetas, with daintily shirred bodices and full skirts inset with shirring. Their embroidered tulle shouldjer veils fell from topnots of carnations, and they carried bouquets of pink carnations. Misses Mary and Alicia Rea, nieces of the bridegroom, were flowergirls. They wore ankle length frocks oi French georgette of soft fuschia tonings. They carried posies of fuscias and fern.

i The bridegroom’s brothers, Messrs James and John O”Connor, of Greymouth, attended him as best-man and groomsman respectively. A reception was held in the Town Hall, where the guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy ensemble, and a Reone straw hat finished with ribbon in cherry toning. She carried a bouquet of matching carnations. Mrs Baker was assisted by the bridegroom’s motne.>, Mrs O’Connor, who chose a frock of navy wool georgette relieved wttn white, and a pedaline straw hat to tone. Her posy was of gladioli. For travelling the bride wore a corn shaded suit, with matching coat and navy accessories. Her hat of navy straw was finished with an eye veil, and she carried a sable fox fur, tne gift of the bridegroom. Mr and Mrs O’Connor will reside in Christchurch.

McKECHN lE—McKENZIE. At St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, yesterday afternoon, tne marriage took place, of Margaret Harriet Kerr McKenzie, daughter oi Mr and Mrs John McKenzie, “Tainui,” Cowper Street, and Wellesley Williams McKechnie, son of Mrs B. McKechnie and the late Mr F. S. McKechnie, Rugby Street, Merivale, Cljriistchurch. Rev. A. D. Horweli officiated and Miss M. Coburn was at the organ. The solo “Garden of My Heart” was sung by Mrs O. McLean. The Church had been tastefully decorated by tile bride’s friends.

The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore her mother’s wedding gown of magnolia slipper satin, wltn a spray of orange blossom fastened at the heart-shaped neckline. The full skirt was scrolled with ruckings of satin and flarel to a long tram. Her tulle veil had a crown of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of Madonna lilies, roses and abutilons. Three bridesmaids attended the bride, Miss Rona Yates (a cousin?, Miss Jeap Rose, and Miss KU Leamont

(also a cousin). Their frocks of eggshell blue, hand-painted taffeta, were made with puff sleeves and heartshaped necklines. Th e fully-flared skirts were finished with the new bustle effect and were caught up in front with a pink rose, showing a ('pleating of pink organdi. Pink flowers were worn in the hair and they carried posies of pink flowers to tone.

Mr William Simm, of Nelson, was best-man, and Mr Jack McKenzie, brother, was groomsman.

The reception was held at Revington’s Lounge, where the guests were ‘received by the bride’s mother, who wore a frock of bluestone “magic hour,” featuring a corsage of scrolled !silk braid, and the front of the skirt .falling in impressed pleats. She wore a navy hat and accessories. The ‘bridegroom’s mother wore a floral ninon frock, in cyclamen shades, with iedge-to-edge coat and straw hat io match.

For travelling, the bride chose a two-piece suit of lupin blue wyndrosa, the frock having a high cowled neckline with fancy chain ornament. Tire •skirt was fully flared, and the coat was of hip length, semi-fitting and also flared, to give a basque effect. She wore a navy hat, and accessories 'to '..tone. Mr and Mrs W. W. • McKeqXiie will reside at Neison.
