Activity at Greymouth

RAILWAY COY. DEPART TO-DAY. West Coast men selected for the special Railway Construct'on Coy. for overseas war service are to leave by this morning’s express for Burnham Camp; also the final supplementary draft of six men for the Second Echelon of the Expeditionary Force. The men who are entraining at Greymouth are to assemble at the railway stat'on at 9.45 a.m., and after the roll call there will be the usual official farewell. Delegates from civil recruiting committees in all military areas will confer to-morrow with members of the Central Recruiting Committee to discuss plans and co-ordinate and intensify. the recruiting campaign for the 3rd Echelon and reinforcements. The object is to form a national recruiting committee, of which the delegates will become members. Arrangements were made for members of the Cabinet to give addresses on various aspects of the Dominion’s war effort. AIR FORCE TRAINEES CHRISTCHURCH, February 13. Officers of the No. 9 course at the Flying Training School at the Royal New Zealand Air Force Station, ram, were inspected in the passingout ceremony on Saturday by the Air Member for Personnel, Group Captain L. M. Isitt, who was accompanied by Squadron Leader M. E. F. Grundy. The officers, who hold the rank of acting-pilot officers, have undergone intermediate and advanced training courses at Wigram since November 21, after having completed ground training and elementary flyihg training courses.

Of these, Acting-Pilot Officers A. Bridson and W. O. G. Krogh will be retained for service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and the others will leave for Great Britain to join the Royal Air Force later this month.
