PROVINCIAL BANDS
CONTEST ARRANGEMENTS. CHRISTCHURCH, February 12. Ths Ashburton J'unior Silver Band was accepted for affiliation with the Canterbury Provincial Bands’ Association at a meeting of the association at Christchurch on Saturday evening. The president (Mr. E. R, Hopwood, of Ashburton) presided. It was decided to grant permission for the Greymouth Municipal ■ Band to hold the annual provincial contest, at Greymouth during the Labour
Day week-end. About 15 bands will probably take part, and a special train for east coast bands will prob- i ably be arranged. Arrangements were made for the contest following a report from the committee which visited Greymouth last week. Good wishes were extended to the Timaru Municipal. , Christchurch Municipal and Wools-■ ton Brass Bands, which will take I part in the centennial bands’ contest ' at Wellington later in the month.
