HOKITIKA NOTES

[Our Own Correspondent].

The wedding took place at All Saints’ Church of Helen Elizabeth, only daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Gutterey, Invercargill, to William John, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr Kulsen, Kanieri. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Knight, of Christchurch. The bride, who was escorted by Mr F. Stuart, wore a smart frock of lemon cloque, with brown accessories and posy to tone. The bride was attended by Miss Jean Cameron, wearing a frock of dusk-pink, with brown accessories and posy to tone. The duties of best, man were carried out by Mr A. Johnson. As the bride J'eft the church she was presented with a lucky horseshoe by wee Eileen Shaw. _ Later a reception was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Mandi, Three Mile. In the new County Chambers there are two large coloured photographic murals which are being greatly admired by callers. One is an impressive view of the town of Hokitika, taken from the air. This shows the symetrical lay-out of the townj and with the colouring the view presented is quite flattering to the capital town. The other picture is that of Cook river valley, with Mts. Tasman and Cook outstanding, and an aeroplane 1 flying over the wooded high lands. A third and smaller picture is a coloured representation of the Fox Glacier pinnacles, also from the air. In the Chambers is a photographic record of the present Council and staff. It is a fitting record for this year of centennial- and all associated with that important event. 1 Mrs Shipman, of Wellington, and formerly of Hokitika (nee Miss D. | Lloyd) is at present here op a visit, , and is the guest of Mrs J. O’Connor, of the Southland Hotel. I
