COBDEN CLUB'S MEETING Mr .F, W. Baillie presided over an excellent attendance at the annual meeting of the Cobden Swimming Club last evening. The annual report, which stated that weather conditions prevented any carnivals being held during the season, and the balance sheet showing a credit balance of £8 16s 8d were adopted. The following officers were elected: Patron, Mr A. H. McKane; president, Mr F. W. Baillie; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Kells, L. Coffey, J. Duncan, S. Howat, D. R. Dowell, C. Russell; delegates to West Coast Centre, Messrs R. Thomson and G. Wright; secretary-treasurer, Mr R. Thomson; coaches, Messrs G. Wright, C. Hughes, Ray Bennett; club captain, Mr G. Wright; committee, Misses D. Whibley, K. Baty, J. McLaughlan, I. Keith, Messrs Ray Bennett, B. Watkin, L. Dittman, Roy Bennett, J. Moss, S. Hart and H. Mettrick. Subscriptions were fixed at. 2s 6d for men and Is for ladies and juniors, with school children free. A lengthy discussion on the proposal made by the Greymouth Club to amalgamate, took place, and it was finally 'resolved unanimously that the Cobden Club retain its separate identity, members considering that this would be the only means of providing competitive swimming. Ten new members were elected. It was left to the committee to decide the date for the opening of the season. Votes of thanks were accorded the outgoing officers and the press.
