AUCKLAND TRAGEDY
INQUEST OPENED. AUCKLAND, November 7. An inquest concerning the death cf Mrs. Beatrice Florence Rita Laurie, who was found dead in her home at Belmont yesterday, was opened today before the Coroner* (Mr. Hunt). Evidence of identification was given by William Henry Wheeler, master plumber, of Takapuna, who said that deceased was his sister. She was 39 years of age. He last saw her alive at Takapuna, about six weeks ago. The proceedings were adjourned, sine die.
The condition of Francis Leona D. Laurie, who was admitted to hospital yesterday, after being found in a bedroom at the Station Hotel, with his wrist gashed, was reported to-day to be satisfactory. The condition of Mrs. Annie Josephine Laycock, who is also in hospital with her wrist gashed, was at first ’ serious, but improved yesterday afternoon. The improvement has not been maintainedto-day.
