The weather report and forecast are as follows: —General situation: —A depression crossed the Dominion last night, and another is now advancing from the south-west Tasma n Sea; an anti-cyclone is still located to the north.' Forecast: Winds south-wester-ly predominating at first, but a change to north-westerly gradually advancing from the south; force moderate to strong generally. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough on the west coast of the North Island; otherwise slight t 0 moderate but rising later on the west coast, of the South Island, and about Cook and Foveaux Straits. Eastern Tasman Sea: Fresh south-westerly winds in the northern portion, and strong north-westerlies in the southern; seas rough. Weather: Some showers in North Auckland and Hawke’s Bay, but conditions improving in the latter area; otherwise weather mainly fail’ to fine; becoming unsettled later, however, in Westland, an c ] the far south. Cold to-night with frosts in the South Island. Milder to-morrow.
